Earlier in July 2016, the Leadership Centre held our Summer Event, welcoming members of the latest Future Vision Cohort as well as alumni of a number of other Leadership Centre programmes.

The event was held firstly to congratulate those who have taken part in the latest cohort of Future Vision, and award them with graduation certificates, but also it gave everyone the opportunity to debate the impact of the biggest political football of the time, the outcome of the EU referendum.

With provocations from representatives of the Department for Education, Local Government Association, Public Health England and Bath and North East Somerset Council, it provided the opportunity to discuss the outcome of the referendum as well as the factors which led to it. The result showed a major disconnect between politicians and citizens, and so the leadership implications of addressing this as well as the obvious financial pressures on public services were just some of the topics covered in a lively and well-rounded debate.

As part of the graduation ceremony, we were delighted to hear past Future Vision participants share their thoughts on the programme as well as the impact of its forerunners, Leeds Castle and Vital Vision, before the certificates of completion were awarded by Leadership Centre Trustee Kim Ryley.

As part of the event the video above was put together to highlight the Future Vision programme as well as some of the inputs from the day.

Expanding the Network

To follow the success of the event, the Leadership Centre is now looking to expand and energise the vast network of programme alumni who have taken part in these programmes, with the hope being that those who see the need to create real change can work together to bring it about across the public sector.
